20 & 21 SEPTEMBER

The Saline royale of Arc-et-Senans became a UNESCO world heritage site in 1982. It is the masterpiece of Claude Nicolas Ledoux (1736-1806), a visionary architect of the Age of Enlightenment. Since it opened in 1779, the site has gone from being a royal saltworks to a cultural centre open to the public and visited by nearly 150,000 people each year.

As part of the European Heritage Days, the Saline royale invites visitors to explore its architecture, history, its 13-hectare park and its recent transformation through its exhibitions and new developments. During the visit, you will be invited to take part in activities in connection with our exhibitions, nature and the environment.
